The Odyssey: A comedy (until it's not)
BY Briandanaiel Oglesby
Homer's The Odyssey is given the slapstick treatment in Oglesby's side-clenching rendition. In this version, Odysseus sails to Ithaca in an Ikea raft, Polyphemus is defeated with a giant Q-tip, and the ensemble of students plays what feels like 1,000 characters. Through this production, we played with simple effects, puppetry, and physical comedy in order to recreate the greatest story ever told,
The Odyssey: A Comedy (Until It's Not) was produced by Griffin School in November 2025. It was assistant directed by Meagan Majors. I am not listing the cast & crew names as they are all students at the school.
